12 years of Raghu Dixit #ArtistDiaries

It took good 12 years for an artist like Raghu Dixit to be where he’s today, this line stained our minds. These were the words said by many upcoming artists one after the other when we started this journey back in early 2016.
We have been trying to
decode this line from the time it was uttered. We have spoken to many artists till date, somewhere trying to look through these lines.
Is every artist going to take a decade or more to become somebody like Raghu Dixit? Or why did Raghu Dixit take 12 years to make his mark in the space of independent artists? And here we have Raghu Dixit Project putting the cards straight on table for you through us,
Raghu set his voyage in 1998. Apparently, a long haul of almost two decades.
When he was trying to release his first album back then, it was visibly the time when there was no internet. Also, this was the time when MTV was making its drift from being a music channel to a reality show channel. Hence the band had missed the wave that could have caused by both television and the internet.
Also, it was the time when playing Kannada songs was considered not cool for an independent artist. People did judge Raghu for choosing regional language and music simply because he had chosen the uncommon for himself.
Though the band did something nobody else was doing in the space yet acceptance factor played tough with them.
